Berkshire Kitchen Design privacy policy 

What exactly is a privacy policy? In a nutshell, it’s where you can find out how we use, store and protect your data – be it your name, your address, your telephone number, your email, or anything else you might tell us about yourself. 

It’s also where you can find out about your privacy rights – the things you can ask us to do with your information. 

Why we collect/hold your data… 

Here we are going to explain why we collect and hold your data. 

In short, we normally either use it because we have to send you a quote for your kitchen, and hopefully where to send your order 

And of course, we’ll only ever use your data legally. 

We won’t send you emails unless it relates to an enquiry/ order you have made, and you won’t be added to any mailing lists. You can of course choose to follow us on Facebook, Instagram etc where we will keep clients updated with the latest trends/ product developments. 

This is our main privacy policy, which applies whether you decide to buy something or are just visiting our website.  

We should also mention that there are certain details (like your name, address and telephone number) that we need from you before you can do things like provide a design or order goods. Without that information, we won’t be able to go ahead. 

The other thing to say is that we’ll sometimes include links on our website to another brand’s website. They might collect and use your data in a different way, so it’s a good idea to take a look at their privacy policy too, just in case.

Our data protection officer looks after everything to do with our privacy policy – they’re who you’ll need to get in touch with if you’ve ever got any questions about it, email or write to us at 170 High Street, Crowthorne, Berkshire, RG45 7AT. 

So, what do we mean by ‘data’? 

The list below gives you an idea of the sort of information we might have in our records: 

Information about your identity – your first and last names and address. 

Your contact details – which also includes your delivery and billing addresses as well as your email address and telephone numbers. 

The details of your bank account if for some reason we have to process a refund. Your credit and debit card details should you choose to make a payment in this manner. 

Information about the things you’ve bought from us and how you paid for them. 

And CCTV images of you – which we use for security purposes in our carpark or to demonstrate the “smart technology” in our showroom. 

How we collect it 

One of the ways we access data is directly from you. You might fill in the enquiry form from your website, get in touch with us by email, phone or post or your details may be passed from someone who has recommended us to you (friends and family) or by a third party website such as Kitchenfindr. 

And what we use it for 

To register you as our customer 

To put through your order and deliver it to you 

To keep a record of your purchases so we can process any warranty/ guarantee issues promptly. 

We only use your data in ways that the law allows us to. 

Most of the time we use it because we need to as part of our contract with you (every time you buy something from us, we enter into a ‘contract’); or because we have a legitimate interest which isn’t overridden by your rights; or because it’s our legal obligation.  

Who we’ll share it with (and why) 

We will not pass your information on to anyone without a valid reason relating to your order. But we will share it with a select group of people – and with good reason. 

Most of the time, we’ll pass it on to the companies we work with to get our jobs done. Such as when we use our logistics company to deliver your order. 

How we keep your data safe 

It means a lot to us to keep your information safe. So, we do everything we can to make sure that it won’t be lost; used or looked at without permission; changed; or passed on. We’ve also done our best to make sure that we don’t get hacked and your information stolen, and if that did happen and it posed a risk to you, we’d let you know.  

And how long we’ll hold on to it for 

We’ll only keep your data for as long as we need to. But, that said, we have to hold on to certain things – like your name, contact information and some bank details, and data on the things you’ve bought from us for six years after you gave them to us – because we legally have to. 

Otherwise, the amount of time we’ll keep hold of it for depends on what type of data it is. If it’s something that’s sensitive (like your bank details) or if we know a lot about you, we’ll delete it sooner. We’ll also need you to send us proof of your identity before we can go ahead – we wouldn’t want to pass your information on to the wrong person. 

We’ll do what you’ve asked us to as quickly as we can – usually within a month – but sometimes things can take a bit longer. We’ll always keep you up to date though.
